Get to Know Our Coaches
Stacy Sowers Head Coach
Stacy has been the head coach for our team for the past two seasons. Coach Stacy's extensive background in swimming spans several decades and he has been involved in swimming most of his life. Some of his experience includes:

Coach Stacy got started swimming while in high school at Hubbard, where he swam on the varsity team for four years. Over the years, he has coached hundreds of swimmers from age 5 to 80! He currently swims USA Masters swimming at Hubbard, teaches an adult triathlon swim class at Salem Community Center, and also coaches open water swim clinics for triathletes at local lakes in the summer months.

In his spare time, Coach Stacy enjoys training for triathlons of all distances, backpacking, bicycle touring, teaching spin classes, and spending time with his family.

He and his wife Pam have been married for 35 years and have two children (twins) and three grandchildren. They enjoy traveling throughout the country, trying new restaurants, and cruising.
Aubrey Whitaker Assistant Coach
Aubrey Whitaker is in her second season as an assistant swim coach. She is a recent Honors graduate from YSU with degree in Anthropology and a minor in Forensic Science. Aubrey has completed nearly 17 years of competitive swimming with SWAC in Fort Wayne IN, Mason Manta Rays in Mason OH, 2 State Championship teams at Mason High School, and 4 years Horizon League finalist at YSU. Aubrey is currently a swim instructor with the Youngstown YMCA, Pool manager at Tippecanoe CC and will be assisting with Americorps outreach program the next season.
Bobby Kutsch Assistant Coach
We are pleased to welcome Coach Bobby to the team for his first season in 2024-25. Bobby Kutsch is a Canfield alumni graduating in 2019. He started his swim career at the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club at the age of 8. He swam for Penguin Swimming most of his winter club career. He swam all 4 years of high school, as well as attending the state meet every year and placing his last 2 years. His last year of swimming he had the opportunities to set a school record and attend the YMCA National Championships with the Neptune Swim Team.
